About the Print

The ebb and flow of pilgrims to the Golden Temple is beautifully captured by Herbert G. Ponting (1870-1935), one of the most renowned photographers of his day.

A few years after photographing in Amritsar, he was recruited as 'camera-artist' on Captain Scott's Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913.
